ORANGE COUNTY BABY PHOTOGRAPHY

I just LOVE photographing outdoor family and one year sessions in Orange County. Irvine has some of the most beautiful settings with gorgeous light and backdrops. I met up with this gorgeous family for their family session on a sunny Orange County afternoon.

I remember picking up our Canon DSLR camera for the first time back in 2010. My husband had scored an awesome Rebel camera with some kit-lens from someone he works with and it was a huge upgrade from my point and shoot. It was SO scary having this big heavy piece of equipment in my hands, I was scared I’d break it.. or mess up the pictures.. or not have the lens put on correctly.
So, I left the ‘big’ camera with my husband. He was the one playing around with it and I stuck with my little Sony. Our second daughter was born in the summer of 2010. I booked a newborn/family session in the fall with a famous Orange County photographer and LOVED the pictures we received. My though: WHAT if I could capture pictures like hers..? I had always had a great love for photography and other artforms, always capturing moments with my point and shoot or phone, painting or using makeup to express myself. So I went to work. I was determined to use the Canon in manual, so I watched video after video on YouTube. Read trough tutorials and absorbed all the information I could get my hands on. I remember switching that camera to manual from auto mode one day at the pool.. and I was SO proud of myself when I got the pictures up on my computer later that day. Hey, they did look kind of crappy.. but it didn’t matter.. it was a step in the right direction.

I started stalking my kids with the camera wherever we went. Always playing with settings, trying different lights and angles and locations. Always pushing myself. Always trying to be creative. Always trying to improve. I quickly realized that the images that truly spoke to my heart were NOT the ones where my kids were all lined up with cheesy grins on their faces, starring into the camera. No, the images that TRULY has an emotional value to me were constantly the ones where they were playing, laughing, being themselves. Thats when I knew I had to capture moments like this for my clients as well.

When I look at Your pictures, I want to FEEL something. I want YOU to feel something. I want the images that makes Your heart sing, the ones that will bring happy tears to Your eyes. During Your Orange County photography session You’ll be Yourself. I don’t believe in cheesy posing or silly props. My goal is for my clients to always feel comfortable and relaxed, be in the moment and just love on each other.
