This Irvine outdoor family session was a total dream! Magical light, perfect location and a fun-loving family. You just can’t ask for anything better!
I love working with kids of all ages! My goal is to always make sure they have an AWESOME time, I want everyone leaving their session with a huge smile on their face 🙂
To make Your kids feel comfortable in front of the camera I let them warm up to me. It’s perfectly normal for them to want nothing to do with me for the first 15 minutes, a little bit of work will build up that trust. When You roll out of the car, I’ll most likely spend a good amount of time chatting away with Your kids about how their day has been, what their favorite animal is and how much fun we’re going to have together! This is step one in getting them to trust me.
I won’t ask Your kids to say ‘cheese!’.. Actually, I won’t ask them to smile at all. Together we’ll play games, sing songs, run and play and actually have them show us some gorgeous genuine smiles. Authenticity is key!
During Your session You will act like Yourself. Don’t worry about overly posing or props. You’ll snuggle Your shy one and throw Your brave one in the air! In my opinion these are the memories You’ll want to look back at. The moments that really matter.
However, somedays we have a child who wants absolutely NOTHING to do with taking photos. Maybe they’re tired or hungry, they missed their nap or don’t like strangers? Then what do we do!!?? Then we pull out my magic bag! I bring along bubbles, stuffed animals, healthy snacks and music to dance to. We don’t force anything.. we take the time we need, and in the end we always get lots and lots of gorgeous magical photos for You.
Finally – let Your kids be kids. Please don’t tell them what to do or where to look during Your session. Having more than one person tell You what to do can be stressful – especially for little ears. And please don’t raise Your voice or get agitated. I can’t stress enough how important it is to not have Your kids get upset over something nonsensical.
