Don’t look into the camera!
Be prepared: You will hear this from me over and over again during Your session. So why shouldn’t You look into the camera with a huge smile, showing off those pearly whites You might be thinking?
Let me explain: We want to capture genuine emotions, true powerful loving connections. You have that with Your family – not ME. A total stranger with a camera. Of course we all want 1 or 2 of everyone looking nice, smiling at the camera. We’ll use it for our Holiday Cards or maybe that small print for grandma. We’ll capture that, but we’ll mostly focus on capturing true and genuine emotion and interactions between people who love each other.
By playing games, snuggling, running around and actually interacting we create some true to life moments that You can look back at it 20 years, to remember what it was like snuggling Your baby or throwing Your toddler high in the air.
Keeping things simple is always best. We don’t over pose or use weird props. Its about You and the connection You have as a couple of family. I dig deep to help You relax and we bring out those precious smiles and deep belly laughs. Don’t worry about stiff posing – I want Your family to hang out, have a good time and just remember to stay tight and have some of Your body parts always touching (holding hands, kissing forehead, smelling hair, tickle belly.. you get the idea).
You have a story to tell – how would You like it to be told? How do we show off who Your family are, at this moment? How do we capture all those unscripted moments? We do it by engaging with one another. We don’t sit all piled up in a row and yell at the kids to say cheese. Thats not how kids truly act – so why should they for Your family photo session? Don’t You want images that will reflect who they actually are? Telling Your story in a correct way includes Your kids showing off their personalities – be it shy, bubbly, brave or sassy.
As Your photographer I hope to capture You as You are right now – and thats the reason I will keep asking You to Not look into my camera over and over again 🙂
